No seriously! I watched Always Be My Maybe this weekend and I DIED of laughter! I really think it’s as good as Crazy Rich Asians and I’m so glad Netflix is giving us more diverse movies!
When I read Crazy Rich Asians, I FELT like I was right there with them, in Singapore, and I have to admit – Always Be My Maybe gave me that same feeling!
Those first scenes made me feel like I was at home with them, as if I was a friend that came over for dinner as well. It was THAT good!
So what’s Netflix’s new movie “Always Be My Maybe” about?
If you don’t know what Always Be My Maybe is about yet (because clearly you live under a rock, lol … or maybe you don’t have Netflix, like I once did).
Always Be My Maybe is about two friends, Sasha and Marcus, who grow up together, and then of course lose touch as they grow into adulthood.
Sasha becomes a famous, celebrity chef, while Marcus is still at home struggling, for reasons I won’t say because I don’t wanna ruin it for ya. Lol
Eventually they meet again, and try to ignore what’s right in front of them, until of course it’s a bit too unbearable.
Now I’m not sure how Keanu Reeves wiggled his way into this movie, but his part was definitely weird. Lol And that restaurant concept was CRAZY! Lol
Who eats bubbles for dessert? Lol
If you haven’t seen Always Be My Maybe yet, you HAVE to put this on your watch list!

So why should you watch Always Be My Maybe on Netflix?
Um … because it’s perfect? Lol Oh and because …
I absolutely LOVED that you could feel the authenticity in this movie! From the very moment it started, right up until the very end!
And the way Netflix tackled the Asian stereotypes, was cute! I’m pretty sure all my Asian friends from high school watched this like … uh huh, yup, that’s right! Lol (Or at least, I hope they did! Lol)
But can we talk about the freaking soundtrack! OMG! I still can’t believe how good it was! It was so on point! S/O to the music supervisors for that!
I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy about a movie’s soundtrack, when it wasn’t original scoring. Lol
Always Be My Maybe is a romantic comedy, aka one of my favorite movie genres of all time, so of course I LOVED this! But I also LOVE Randall Park!
(Fresh Off The Boat is my sh*t! Lol)
So it was great to see him in this! Being his awkwardly, weird, but funny, self.
Oh and the ending was so emotional I swear I almost cried. Lol What Sasha did with her NYC restaurant really made me believe in true love again. Lol
(Not that I ever stopped believing. But you get my point!) It was a great ending!
And you HAVE to watch the credits to listen to Marcus’ song! Lol It’s all about Keanu Reeves and it’s the best song he wrote in the whole damn movie. Lol
So watch the credits!
Should you watch this if you don’t like Ali Wong’s stand up comedy?
Believe it or not – I HATE Ali Wong’s stand ups! I’ve TRIED to watch them before, and I just couldn’t! Lol
I don’t like the way she overdramatizes sometimes. And sadly enough, she did that in Always By My Maybe as well. Every time she “went crazy” I cringed.
But luckily, she was “normal” for like 90% of the movie and just acted! I’m not sure I would have gotten through this movie if she didn’t. Lol
Have you watched Always Be My Maybe yet? If so, did you love it? Hate it? What did you think?
If not, do you plan on watching it?
Awww thank you!!! It's so good!!
