These God Damn Snakes Almost Made This Jungle Cruise Actor’s Mom Miss Half Of The Movie

If you’re already laughing at the title of this post, then it’s clear to me that you’ve seen Samuel L. Jackson’s famous performance in the film “Snakes on a Plane”. But this post isn’t about that … nor is it about the snakes in the Harry Potter films. As the title suggests, it’s actually about the snakes in the Jungle Cruise movie! And how THOSE god damn snakes made one of the Jungle Cruise actor’s mother miss half of his performance in the film … because … yup … you guessed it … she’s afraid of snakes!

This week, I had the privilege of attending a virtual press conference for Disney’s new Jungle Cruise movie, staring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Emily Blunt, Édgar Ramírez, and Jack Whitehall. During the conference, the stars talked … well more like joked …. about their time shooting the new Disney film, and Edgar gushed about how amazing his cast members were.

Like seriously GUSHED about them and it was the cutest thing ever!

Next to, of course, Dwayne and Emily, going back and forth with each other, cracking jokes along the way as if they were just hanging out, drinking tequila at the end of a long day on set.

However, Édgar not only praised his cast members for their outstanding performance in the Jungle Cruise movie, which by the way, he’s totally not bullshitting, they were great! All of them! Édgar included!

Check out the trailer below.

He also mentioned that his mom attended the film’s premiere in LA last Saturday, at Disneyland.

Of course, that’s when he dished that she may have missed about half of the film and his amazing performance as Aguirre, because she’s terrified of snakes.

Édgar also made a point to also mention that he too is extremely afraid of snakes. So he was incredibly happy that they weren’t near him while shooting. Which, to me is fascinating, since — spoiler alert, Édgar‘s character in the film, is almost always “surrounded” by snakes when we see him on screen! So how they managed to pull that off is a bit beyond my knowledge at the moment, but it was clearly well done!

It’s amazing what actors have to do to become their characters, and this is seriously a testament to just how great of an actor Édgar Ramírez really is because I would have never known he was afraid of snakes had he not mentioned it during the press conference.

And the fact that they used real snakes on set is mind blowing.

But you know what … incredible actors, do incredible things, and Édgar Ramírez is an incredible actor. There’s really nothing else to say!

But wait … if his mom was scared, should you bother watching the new Jungle Cruise movie if you’re also afraid of snakes?

I will say though … that if you’re afraid of snakes and you’re reading this worried, don’t be. I don’t think it’s THAT bad, but then again I’m not terrified of snakes, so what do I know?

What I do know though is that this movie is a hilarious dad joke filled, female centered Indiana Jones, with a splash of Pirates of the Caribbean, and a dash of Harry Potter, adventure film.

Jungle Cruise also reminds me so much of our history and how white folks always wanna conquer something, or find something, even when they’re warned against it! They NEVER wanna listen to the natives! And it’s too bad the consequences in this film are only fantasy, because if they weren’t then maybe they’d actually learn their lesson for once and would stop repeating history all the god damn time!

Anywho … Jungle Cruise premieres in theaters and on Disney+ (with premier access) on Friday, July 30th, and it’s totally worth a watch! Even if it’s just the see The Rock’s … I mean … Dwayne Johnson’s mesmerizing smile.
