Listen here! I just woke up! Like for real for real. I threw Spotify on to get some work done while my kid is walking around the park with her aunt, and I saw an ad for Peacock TV. Pause! What TF is Peacock TV?
And since this was released this morning, I’m pretty sure you’re going to be seeing it all over today, so here’s …
Everything You Need To Know About Peacock TV
What is Peacock TV?
As Peacock’s website states …
A peacock is a bright and colorful bird commonly known for its feathery tail.
Peacock, however, is the new streaming service from NBCUniversal. It’s the best of streaming and the best of TV. And best of all, it’s free. (Sorta.)
With hit movies, current shows, timeless films, and timely updates, Peacock has tons of great entertainment that you Can’t Not Watch.
How much does it cost?
Peacock is free as a bird.
If you want to unlock all of the content Peacock has to offer, you can upgrade your account to Peacock Premium at $4.99 a month or $49.99 for the year.
If you are looking for the same great Peacock Premium content with fewer ads, you can sign up for Peacock Premium Plus for an additional $5.00 a month or an additional $50.00 for the year.
Oh, and if you’re not sure about the Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus plans there’s a free 7-day trial. After your 7-day free trial ends, you’ll be charged and your plan will renew automatically. But you can cancel your plan at any time within your account.
Are there ads?
Yup! (I mean, but since this thang is free, I’m sure you already guessed that.)
Oh and you can’t skip advertisements on Peacock, but you can upgrade to Peacock Premium Plus to watch with limited interruptions. *rolls eyes at limited*
Do I really need Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus?
Peacock Premium is your key to unlocking all of the content Peacock has to offer.
With full seasons of exclusive Peacock Original series, next-day airings of current NBC and Telemundo hits, can’t-miss live sports, plus every movie and show available on Peacock. There is always something new to discover on Peacock Premium.
So I’ll let you decide if you really need it. But my thoughts are at the end of this post.
Where and how can you use it?

What can you watch?
Peacock has thousands of hours of iconic shows and megahit movies, plus exclusive Peacock Originals, current NBC and Telemundo hits, and the latest in news, sports, and pop culture updated daily.
Think popular NBC shows like …
While you won’t be able to stream NBC shows on Peacock at their initial airtime, many of the current season shows will be available to stream within 8 days afterward. For Peacock Premium members, shows will appear a day after they air.
Can more than one person use Peacock at a time?
You are able to have up to three concurrent streams on your account. So I guessing so. But with all the other streaming platforms we have, I doubt we’ll need it.
(Click here to find out more about Peacock’s Family content and Kid’s Corner on our sister site, Popcorn and Tater Tots.)
Can I watch Peacock content offline?
Currently, Peacock content isn’t available for streaming offline. But that may change in the future.
Wait, what the hell is this purple Peacock feather icon?
What’s going to happen to NBC shows on Hulu?
Actually, I have absolutely no idea right now. I’m assuming that contracts are still in play, so they’ll stay on Hulu for now, but I don’t know what’ll happen next year.
If I get news, I’ll update this section or write a new post about what’s happening. However, as of right now, NBC shows are still on Hulu.
So do we really need Peacock TV?
I mean … you want my honest opinion, right?
Okay so if I’m being honest, no, we don’t NEED Peacock TV. However, have I already made an account? Yup, yup!
Since it’s FREE .99 I don’t see the problem in downloading another app and signing up for another streaming platform.
Once I check out the kid stuff, I may also download it so my daughter has extra shows to watch when I need to kick her butt off of Netflix.
However, since the shows I really want from NBC are currently on Hulu, I don’t technically NEED Peacock.
And depending on how annoying it is to have commercials playing during my content since I’ve gotten used to no commercials at all, will determine if I continue to use Peacock.
So now that you know what Peacock TV is, tell me … will you be downloading the app?
