While watching The Cypher short film during the American Black Film Festival HBO Short Film Competition, I couldn’t help but notice these movie quotes. They either made me smile, think or extremely emotional.

The Cypher is about a young Black rapper in Philadelphia who must confront his sexuality when he finally gets the chance to perform on the big stage.

Not knowing whether he should walk away, or push through, Khalil is faced with the ultimate decision, that could cost him his crown.

I’ll post a full movie review shortly, but in the meantime …
