Should You Watch Netflix’s New Rom-Com “Resort To Love”?

Resort to Love movie

A few days ago Netflix released their newest rom-com movie called “Resort To Love“, staring Christina Milian, Jay Pharoah and Sinqua Walls.

The film takes place on a beautiful island, where Erica (Christina Milian) finds out that not only does she have to sing at weddings, after recently breaking up with her ex-fiancé (Jay Pharoah).

But that the groom at one of those weddings IS her ex-fiancé!

So should you bother watching it?

Long story short … yes. Yes you should!

Whether you love cheesy Black rom coms, or absolutely hate them. None of that matters with this one.

We’re all watching the film, for one reason, and one reason only. The plot.

Yup, I know you know what I’m talkin’ bout! I know you Sinqua Walls foine ass there!

And if that’s not a good enough reason, here’s another.

If you’re not familiar with the beautiful man above, this is Alexander Hodge, who also stars in Resort To Love, as the best friend of the groom.

Not that his role matters at all! Cause … well … I mean, just look at the photo again.

The Resort To Love movie itself is cheesier than I expected.

But I love watching movies where Black characters get to just enjoy life, and be happy! And Christina clearly had a blast reminding us of how great of a singer she really is. Plus, there’s a bit of a “twist” that I really didn’t see coming.

Now I will say that, I do prefer Jay in movies where he gets to be his true silly self. I don’t care for him in more serious roles.

So I really didn’t love his performance in this film. But Sinqua (who plays the grooms brother) is foine enough to carry the whole damn film.

Resort to Love is definitely one of those “in a perfect world” movies, because there’s no way none of this would happen in real life. But the story loosely explores the bonds of love and family, and attempts to tackle the question: “will Erica sing at Beverly’s wedding – or her own?”

Overall, it’s a cute film and I spent the entire time staring at Sinqua and Alexander so I can’t really tell you more reasons for watching this one.

Resort To Love is now streaming on Netflix.

I watched this last night. It was cheesy, but good. I didn’t realize Alicia Keys produced it.
