You can currently watch “The Sandman” on Netflix, as the series that was previously announced during Netflix’s 2023 “Tudum” event, is now streaming!
But as we all know … I’m not a big fan of shows that have the potential to creep me out.
So I was definitely on the edge about watching this one. However — after digging a little, instead of just judging it on its creepy poster art, I noticed 4 things.
So here are …
4 Reasons You Need To Watch “The Sandman” On Netflix
1. Kirby Howell-Baptise
Who killed in “Cruella”, and also stars in “Killing Eve” and “Queenpins”.
2. Vivienne Acheampong
Who also stars in “The Witches” and “The One” on Netflix.
3. Kyo Ra
A young actress, in her breakout role as Rose Walker.
4. Ansu Kabia
Who also stars in “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw“.
Yup! Dassit.
Those four Black actors and actresses are your reasons!
And ain’t nothing else needed to be said, to convince me to watch “The Sandman” on Netflix, if I’m being honest. I mean I love Kirby enough that I would have watched this just to see her character. But I’m always down to watch new Black faces on screen, and all it takes for me to be interested in a dope concept — is to see more than one Black face, in a primary role!
But if you’re still not convinced.
Here are a few more less important reasons to watch “The Sandman” …
- “The Sandman” is a dark fantasy Netflix series based on “The Sandman” comic book series created for DC by Neil Gaiman (“Good Omens”, “Coraline”).
- Gaiman is also an Executive Producer and Co-Writer.
- The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
- It’s dope AF, and actually not as creepy as I thought it would be!
- The world-building really sucks you in.
- I fell in love with the characters who made me immediately want another season.
Still not convinced? Here’s what “The Sandman” series is all about …
With a rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy — where contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven — “The Sandman” follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic–and human–mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.
And while the description is a bit vague, it’s a great show, and totally worth a watch.
Awww thank you!!! It's so good!!
