Pixar released the new Onward character posters yesterday and they’re so darn friggin cute! Check ’em out below, along with who’s playing what roles!
If you haven’t heard already, Onward stars Lena Waithe, Octavia Spencer, Ali Wong, Mel Rodriguez, Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bonnie Hunt and John Ratzenberger.
New Onward Character Posters Below
Ian and Barley Lightfoot played by Tom Holland and Chris Pratt
Tom Holland plays Ian Lightfoot, a teenaged elf who is Barley’s brother and Laurel’s son, while Chris Pratt plays Barley Lightfoot, a young adult elf who longs for a magical quest, and is Ian’s older brother and Laurel’s son.
Laurel Lightfoot played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Laurel Lightfoot, the mother of Ian and Barley. (But don’t ask me who that creature is that she’s holding. Cause iono! Lol)
Cop trio played by Mel Rodriguez, Ali Wong, and Lena Waithe
From left to right, Mel Rodriguez plays Colt Bronco, a Centaur cop; Ali wong plays Gore, a Faun cop; and Lena Waithe plays Specter, a Cyclops cop.
I’m excited to see how they work alongside each other!
Oh and of course I’m extremely excited to see Lena in her new role! (Have y’all seen Lena’s new movie Queen and Slim yet? Cause you should!)
Corey played by Octavia Spencer
Octavia Spencer plays Corey, a Manticore, who’s also a restaurant owner.
(And just so you know, it took me FOREVER to figure out who this character was cause she don’t look like this in the movie! Lol This poster had me thinking I was looking for a man god damn it!)
But the diversity in this casting is incredible!
I’m loving the direction Disney has been going in recently! And I’m extremely excited to see Onward when it releases next year on March 6th, 2020!
P.s – Speaking of the casting … I know he’s not pictured above but, did you know John Ratzenberger has played a character in EVERY Pixar film? Isn’t that CRAZY!? Like did he have to sign a contract for this or something? Lol
