Disney Plus Is Remaking Lilo And Stitch And I Don’t Know How To Feel

Lilo and stitch live action remake

Y’all Want This Lilo And Stitch Live Action Remake?

Like honestly, when I got the news today I was shocked! Stunned. And then I thought “but whyyyy”? Lol Lilo and Stitch is one of my absolute favorite Disney movies of ALL time, so to find out that Disney Plus is going to make a live action remake scares and excites me.

But I do remember when Disney Plus first announced that they were remaking Lady and the Tramp and how we all were like WTF?

I immediately had NO interest in watching the movie.

But since I got to see it before it was released last year during The Geekly Retreat, I was kind of forced into watching it. Lol And then came the utter shock of … “shit this is actually good”. So I mean, this MAY be a good thing.

But, Lilo and Stitch is so dear to my heart that I’m extremely scared right now.

If they mess this thang up I’m tearing up somebody’s ass at Disney! Lol Just let me know who the hell I need to call! Y’all think my Playing With Fire movie review was harsh? Oh youuuuuu just wait! Lol

However, here are a few answers to some questions that probably just popped into your head.

a lilo and stitch live action remake is coming

When can we expect the new remake?

According to The Dis Insider: “The live-action/CGI hybrid is set to begin filming this Fall in Hawaii.” So, the movie won’t be out anytime soon this year.

Maybe next Summer? Who knows! Just know, it’s coming!

Will we be able to see this in theaters?

Nope! “The studio is prepping this film as a part of their original films for Disney+.” So this means we’ll only be able to watch this on Disney Plus.

But I guess this also means that Disney Plus’s original content is kicking things up a notch next year, huh?

So far, I’ve already liked what I’ve seen with the Lady and the Tramp remake, the Togo movie, and the new movie Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made, set to release in a few days.

Will stitch remain the same?

Actually yes!

“The voice of Stitch from the original films and series, Chris Sanders is expected to return as the voice of Stitch.”

So I guess it shouldn’t be too bad if Stitch will still be stitch right?

Who’s playing Lilo? Are they changing the story?

Again, according to The Dis Insider:

“The remake is said to follow the same story as the animated film that followed a young girl’s close encounter with the galaxy’s most wanted extraterrestrial. [As we know], Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly “dog,” whom she names Stitch.

Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren’t, in reality, a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch’s heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.”

Also, they haven’t announced any news about Lilo yet, so hang tight. I’ll get that info to you once they release it.

More about Disney Plus’s remake …

“Mike Van Waes (The Crooked Man) wrote the script for the remake which will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback who are coming off last year’s billion-dollar hit remake of Aladdin and are also producing the Disney+ Inspector Gadget film. Studio execs Zoe Kent (Sade) and Louie Provost (Togo) will oversee the production. A search for a director is underway.”
