But Isn’t Broadway Just For Adults? My Experience Taking Kids To Broadway Shows …

If you’re skeptical about taking your kids to a Broadway show because of its length, or content — and think, they’re just for grown-ups… think again. As someone who has taken kids and teens to Broadway, I can tell you firsthand how thrilling it is to experience a show through their eyes. My daughter and I have seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Frozen, Aladdin, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child together, and each time, I’ve watched her be completely captivated by the storytelling, music, and stunning production. And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if her being introduced to theater so early on, is why she’s now a theater kid.

But when I worked with high school students a few years ago, I also had the privilege of taking them to Broadway shows and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Their excitement before the show and their enthusiastic discussions afterward on the bus ride home always remind me how powerful theatre can be. And they notice everything!! From the lighting, and the set changes, to the way the actors bring their characters to life. It’s an experience that stays with them forever and fosters a lifelong love for the arts.

So like I said — it’s an amazing experience, that I think every kid should get the chance to experience! And here’s how Kids Night On Broadway, helps make that possible.

More Kids Night On Broadway Perks

  • Discounted Admission to the Museum of Broadway – Ticketholders can visit the Museum of Broadway and receive 50% off admission on March 4 and 5 to explore Broadway’s history, costumes, and behind-the-scenes magic.
  • In-Theatre Activities & Giveaways – From talkbacks with cast members to sing-alongs, art projects, and activity books, there’s something for every young theatre fan to enjoy.
  • “My First Broadway Show” Stickers – If your child is attending their first-ever Broadway show, they can pick up a special sticker to commemorate the occasion! I’d grab one even if this isn’t their first show, simply because they’ll be able to have a keepsake from kids night.

If your kids love pasta, they’ll love Carmine’s! It’s one of those Times Square restaurants everyone wants a reservation to, and I had the pleasure of visiting recently — and the meatballs are delicious!

The Catch

Now, for those of you thinking this offer, is too good to be true! There’s no way they’ll let kids get tickets for FREE! Well, technically, you’re right. While the promotion says “kids can attend free,” what it really means is that one child can attend free with each full-paying adult. Essentially, it’s a BOGO-free offer, where each ticket is technically 50% off when purchasing in pairs. So families with more than 2 kids, won’t get “free” tickets for their 3rd, 4th, or 5th child. Which is truly unfortunate.

That said, this is still an amazing deal, and it’s literally how I’ve been able to see so many shows with my daughter as a single mom — so it’s absolutely worth it.

If you’ve ever wanted to introduce your kids to Broadway, THIS is one of the best ways to do it affordably. Yup, there are other ways! But focus! This one’s meant specifically for you and your family! I’ll write about the other ways in my full guide to Broadway later. So even if you have more than two kids, here’s …

Why You Should Go Anyway

Broadway has the power to inspire, educate, and entertain, and Kids’ Night on Broadway is the perfect way to share that experience with your children. Whether they’ve been to a Broadway show before or this will be their first time, this event provides an incredible opportunity to foster their appreciation for the arts while making lifelong memories together. Plus — as I mentioned before, tickets are EXPENSIVE!

So however you choose to see it — whether it’s buying a ticket for yourself, and getting one for your child free, or getting two – four tickets 50% off, it’s still a great offer and an affordable way to do Broadway. And if you make it a yearly tradition, you’ll be able to see a ton of shows in no time!

So, if you’re looking for the perfect way to introduce your kids to live theatre—or just want to experience a show together without breaking the bank—don’t miss Kids’ Night on Broadway this year. Grab your tickets, plan a fun dinner, and get ready for a night of magic and excitement!
