You know that feeling when you turn on a new show and find yourself scrolling through your phone, so you start wondering, “Is this even worth watching?” Yeah, that was me during the first two episodes of His and Hers on Netflix. I was SO excited to see Tessa Thompson starring in a new series, that even with plenty of warning from my critic friends, I still had my hopes up.
I absolutely HATE slow burns, so I found myself asking — is His and Hers worth watching, or should I turn it off and give up at the end of episode two? But something about this series kept me hooked, and once I got to the finale, I realized that this story wasn’t just about murder. It’s about SO much more.
So let’s talk about it …
Is His And Hers Worth Watching?

Oh absolutely.
But there are definitely a few things you should know BEFORE watching.
First … here’s what His and Hers is actually about (no spoilers) …
The series follows Anna (Tessa Thompson), who returns to her small hometown after being away for years. She’s clearly still grieving the loss of her child, despite pretending to be okay, and returning to work (as a journalist) in hopes that they haven’t fully replaced her yet. All while struggling to reconnect with her mom, who’s quietly losing her memory.
But when a former classmate turns up dead, old secrets begin to bubble back up, and Anna finds herself tangled in a mystery that’s way deeper than we think. This new Netflix series is part psychological drama, part murder mystery, and part “small-town gossip gone very, very wrong.”

Here’s What Works
While His and Hers is a tad bit slow, it does a great job of pulling on our heartstrings and making us emotional. The show isn’t just about who did what; it’s also about why.
And I have to admit, the WHY is more intriguing than the who.
Plus, Tessa’s performance keeps you invested even when the pacing drags.
The series also uses memory and flashbacks really cleverly. I really loved that each visit to a familiar place triggered a piece of Anna’s past, slowly revealing the truth of what happened 20 years ago.
But it’s the final twist that makes this show an instant hit. It ties everything together in a way that’s both chilling yet oddly satisfying. And even if you guessed the who, the WHY will make you cry!
Now … Here’s What Doesn’t Work
The pacing.
As someone with little to no patience, baby His and Hers definitely tests your willingness to commit.
The first three episodes are clearly all designed to set up the plot twist towards the end. But things don’t really start snapping into place until episode 5. There’s also a lot of talking and not enough action to balance things out, which is why this series feels so boring at first glance.
If you’re someone who likes constant twists or high-energy scenes, this one might feel painful to watch.
But I think the ending is totally worth it, and I don’t say this often.

So, should you watch His and Hers on Netflix?
If you love slow-burn thrillers with moody, messy secrets, complicated women, and an ending that makes you say, “Wait, WHAT just happened?”, Netflix’s His and Hers is worth adding to your queue.
The six-episode limited series mystery starts off painfully slow at first — but it gradually unravels into a web of grief, guilt, revenge, and motherhood that’s honestly kind of brilliant once it all comes together.
If you usually give up on a show before episode three, you might not make it to the good part — and I hate that for you, because the ending really does stick the landing.
Is His and Hers on Netflix scary?
Nah. This isn’t a horror show.
There are a few dark and uncomfortable scenes, but nothing graphic or jump-scary.
It’s more psychological tension than actual terror — think “emotional suspense” over “scream-out-loud” moments. But the show really should come with better trigger warnings, so here are the ones I noticed.
Trigger Warnings: Sexual assault, losing a child, death of a loved one, bullying

Final Thoughts: Yes, His and Hers is worth watching!
While it takes five whole episodes for us to get some action, the His and Hers finale is worth the wait. The ending reframes everything you thought you knew, answers previous questions, and gives the slow build a real purpose. Although I have to admit, the show isn’t perfect. And I understand why some may not make it all the way through. The show seriously needed more action and excitement.
And I honestly think, if they had started the series with one of the twists at the end, and worked their way backwards, the show would have held our attention a bit more.
But the emotional payoff makes it a satisfying watch overall. Plus, as a mother myself, it was quite interesting to see just how far one would go to protect their truth and avenge their loved ones. And I just love a cute story with a hidden message you didn’t see coming.
Escapism Rating: 3.5 out of 5 – Perfect for a cozy, rainy-day binge, but lacks intensity until the end
Show Rating: 4 out of 5 stars – The twists at the end make up for the lack of excitement
