If you’re reading this Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Disney ride review, it’s probably because you’re a scaredy cat, like me, but you’re dying to try it, right? It’s cool … I get it! So the real question of the day is: “Is Guardians Cosmic Rewind at Epcot scary? Like ACTUALLY scary? Or can I actually make it through this thang in one piece? Every time a new thrill ride at Disney gets released I cringe because I soooo wanna ride it, but I’m always scared to. And not because I just “hate” thrill rides, but because I’m a big-ass scaredy cat!
What I really hate is:
- big drops (especially if we’re outside)
- high climbs (especially those 90 degree ones)
- loop de loops
- going upside down
- feeling like I’m about to fall out of my seat
And probably a ton of other shit! But since it’s my duty to you, the culture (and myself) to review as many theme park rides as possible …
Here’s A Quick Review Of Guardians Cosmic Rewind For Scaredy Cats
Is Guardians Cosmic Rewind Scary?
I only rode Guardians Cosmic Rewind once, but after riding it, I immediately wanted to do it again! So it’s really f*cking great! And I was super worried about this one, especially after so many people said that the ride made them sick. But it’s not scary at all!
However, if you don’t like thrill rides, there are a few things to watch out for.
What actually bothered me:
- The wind blowing my face and hair all over the place
- Not being able to wear my glasses so I couldn’t see a thing
- And … yeah, that’s it …
Surprisingly, I had no REAL issues with Guardians Cosmic Rewind! I never got sick, I didn’t feel like the flashing lights were too much! (Maybe because my glasses were off?) And I didn’t think the loops, or going backward was completely insane!
It was just super fun!
What you need to know before riding Guardians Cosmic Rewind at Epcot if you absolutely hate thrill rides …
How fast the Guardians Cosmic Rewind ride goes: 60 mph
How long the Guardians Cosmic Rewind ride lasts: 3 mins
Does the Guardians Cosmic Rewind ride have any big drops: nope
Other things to watch out for:
There’s a lot of movement on this one! Twice as much as a normal Disney ride. And with all that movement, comes a lot of turns, and a few climbs — but nothing that feels incredibly scary. Since it’s an inside rollercoaster and dark AF, you don’t have the “pleasure” of seeing the sky and all the tiny people on the floor around you. So there’s a lot less to be scared about — if you’re scared of heights.
I could see the tracks, with my glasses off, but that’s about it. And even though that was a little scary, the ride is so darn fast and fun, I totally forgot about it moments after. Plus, going backward was absolutely nothing like I thought it would be! (It didn’t even last that long! Mount Everest and Spaceship Earth both go backward way longer than the Guardians ride did!)
Do I recommend riding Guardians Cosmic Rewind even if you hate thrill rides?
Abso-freaking-lutely! It’s one of the best Disney rides I’ve ever been on! (Right up there with Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom.) But due to the ride being a bit more plus-size friendly than Avatar’s FOP ride, I’d say Guardians Cosmic Rewind is a whole lot more fun. Not having to worry about squeezing into this ride, was a huge relief for me!
Plus, I didn’t get sick at all. I did feel a little wobbly after getting off — which I can only assume is because my body moved so much on this ride, it couldn’t tell the ride was finally over. But other than that, it was great!
Next time, I’ll put my hair in a ponytail so my friends don’t have to eat it while it whips through the air! (That ride is windy as hell!)
