I Get It, Family Reunion On Netflix Is Cheesy, But I Like Cheesy So It Was Great

I have literally laughed out loud at every episode of Family Reunion on Netflix! Every damn one! Lol Does that make me lame? Maybe! But I actually enjoyed the series! 

This damn thing got me wanting to get married and move to the south and shit! Lol Ugh! (Which by the way, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do anyway.)

But seriously I think it’s cute! I love cheesy, rom com shows so it was great. I know I saw some folks on Facebook saying it’s wack but oh well. I liked it! So what! Shoot me! Lol

My parents are from the Caribbean, and I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, so family reunions aren’t a THING for me. Which is probably why I LOVE the thought of going to a reunion and why I love what this show stands for.

So what’s Family Reunion about?

Family Reunion is an American comedy web television series created by Meg DeLoatch that premiered on Netflix awhile back, that follows a family of six who travel from Seattle, Washington to Columbus, Georgia for the McKellan Family Reunion at M’Dear and Grandpa’s house.

About The Family Reunion Cast

The McKellans comprised of, Moz the father (Anthony Alabi), Cocoa the mother (Tia Mowry), Jade the eldest daughter (Talia Jackson), Shaka the oldest son (Isaiah Russell-Bailey), Mazzi the youngest son (Cameron J. Wright), and Ami the youngest daughter (Jordyn Raya James).

And of course the other family members are filled with a few more of our favorites. Loretta Devine plays M’Dear, Moz’s Deep Southern old-fashioned church-going mother. Richard Rountree plays Grandpa, M’Dear’s husband of 43 years and Moz’s father who is also a pastor. And Telma Hopkins plays Maybelle, M’Dear’s sister.

After attending the reunion, Moz decides to hang up his football jersey and stay in Columbus, Georgia to be closer to his family, while helping his kids adjust to a simpler life away from city comforts.

But can we just pause for a moment because I KNOW you’ve been thinking about this for awhile now. Who TF named these characters? Lol

Where TF they get names like Moz (which my auto correct keeps thinking I mean mozzarella lol), Shaka and Mazzi from? And why the HELL did Tia’s name have to be Cocoa? God damn it! Who’s idea was that?

Thank goodness the jokes are extremely funny and the kids are the cutest! Whew! Lol And can we talk about these WIGS!? That was the FIRST thing folks commented on when this show first came out!

Why they got these ugly ass wigs on this poor girls head when she got a FULL head of hair? That got something to do with them being from Washington? They ain’t got good weave out there? Let me know! Lol

Why You Should Watch Family Reunion

Not only does Family Reunion on Netflix make me laugh, but it also reminds me that parenting is hard! Oh and it definitely made me wanna cry a few times.

I don’t know if I was just emotional the weekend I binge watched this thang, or if the scenes are just that amazing! But it’s like really inspirational and motivational and shit. Lol Aw man.

And they keep saying “this was recorded in front of a live audience” and I keep sitting there like … motherflicker HOW!

These damn sets look amazing and so real! Lol I really need to go to a live set one day and see how it’s done because nah! How they do that? Lol I’m seriously asking so if you got some serious answers let me KNOW! Lol
