Now that it’s finally Christmas, it’s time I start sharing my favorite Christmas movies right? And since everyone knows the classics, here are 6 “newish” Christmas movies on Netflix that I think are worth watching this month.

The Christmas Chronicles is a 2018 American Christmas filmdirected by Clay Kaytis from a screenplay by Matt Lieberman. The film stars Kurt Russell as Santa Claus. It also stars Judah Lewis, Darby Camp, Lamorne Morris, and with Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Oliver Hudson. Other stars include Martin Roach and Vella Lovell.

Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. But when the plan goes wrong, the kids join forces with a somewhat jolly Saint Nick and his loyal elves to save the holiday before it’s too late. (So much better than I expected it to be!)

The Princess Switch

The Princess Switch is a 2018 American Christmas romantic comedy film directed by Mike Rohl from a screenplay by Robin Bernheim and Megan Metzger. The film stars Vanessa Hudgens, Sam Palladio and Nick Sagar.

One week before Christmas, a duchess switches places with an ordinary woman from Chicago, who looks exactly like her, and they each fall in love with each other’s beaus. This is my daughter’s favorite!

Klaus is a 2019 English-language Spanish animated Christmas comedy film written and directed by Sergio Pablos (in his directorial debut), produced by Sergio Pablos Animation Studios (also known as the SPA Studios) with support from Aniventure and distributed by Netflix as its first original animated feature.

Co-written by Zach Lewis and Jim Mahoney, the film stars Jason Schwartzman, J. K. Simmons, Rashida Jones, Joan Cusack, Will Sasso and Norm MacDonald. Serving as a fictional origin story to the myth of Santa Claus, the plot revolves around a postman stationed in a town to the North who befriends a reclusive toymaker (Klaus).

Thee beginning may be a little hard to watch, but it gets better! Keep watching!

In The Holiday Calendar, a photographer inherits an antique Advent calendar that seems to predict her future, including a budding romance. They’re both adorable, even if magical advent calendars aren’t real.

Edmund is all business and dislikes the Christmas season until a cheerful decorator helps him fall in love with the holiday, and her. It’s cheesy, but it’s cute!

Holiday Rush is a 2019 Christmas comedy film directed by Leslie Small and written by Sean Dwyer and Greg Cope White.

After a radio DJ is fired, he moves in with his aunt, bringing along his four (extremely) spoiled children. This one might be for the kids in your life that don’t realize how great they have it!
