Like seriously! Netflix has ALWAYS been my go to for comedy, but Hulu just took it up a notch with NBC’s Bring The Funny! So far there hasn’t been a single person where I was like …*clears throat and puts on my Brooklyn accent* “WACK”. Lol They’re just all incredibly talented and extremely funny comics.
And I absolutely LOVE the fact that this show is set as if it’s in an actual restaurant? (Or maybe it is? Lol)
But whether it is or not, I love that it still creates that feel of being at a comedy show for the audience and for the performers. When the performers look out, they’re not just looking out at rows and rows of unfamiliar faces, they’re looking out at what looks like a legit comedy show audience. People who are sitting at tables with their friends, smiling and probably spitting their drink out everywhere. Lol
If I’ve learned anything from working with kids over the last few years, it’s that your environment REALLY matters! So this small detail definitely makes this show that much better.

But can we talk about these performers? OMG! Lol The first episode is comprised of stand up comics, a magician, sketches, musical comedy, and a “robot” comic? Yeah, it’s a tad off, but it’s good! By the end of the show I was able to easily predict who would move on to the next round. (But only because I’ve picked up on how shows are edited, and I’ve noticed that certain people get more shine than others for a reason. Lol)

Anywho, Bring The Funny is amazing and such a great way for others to really see what else is out there in the comedy world. I’d suggest that everyone who loves comedy check it out.
Cause I’ll be honest, I was NEVER really into sketches! Lol (Hell, when I was younger, I also hated Dave Chappelle, and look at me now! Lol Have y’all read my post about his new Netflix series? Check it out here.) But yeah … I’m a damn 90s baby who grew up on All That and I still hated sketches. Frangela (pictured above) and JK Studios cleared that right up for me though! Their acts were so relatable. (I recently got shushed in the movie theater for talking, so yeah, TOTALLY relatable. Lol)
If you’re thinking, eh this may not be for me because I don’t like (fill in the blank here) … then this IS for you! Even the judges have their own biases and favorite kinds of comedy, yet they still find themselves laughing at what they thought they’d hate.
Here’s A Sneak Peek Of Bring The Funny
About The Show
NBC’s proud comedy legacy, which has opened doors for countless comedians, is ready to “Bring the Funny” with a new competition series for the next generation of comedy lovers. This series features the world’s best comedic acts and, for the first time on television, embraces every style of comedy performance in one competition.
The 10-episode series brings together some of the most prolific comedians in the industry to serve as judges – “Saturday Night Live”‘s longest-running cast member, Kenan Thompson (better known as one of the OG All That cast members and executive producer of the new All That), cultural tastemaker Chrissy Teigen and comedy icon Jeff Foxworthy. Comedian Amanda Seales serves as the host for the competition. (Who I didn’t know was ALSO on Nickelodeon way back when!)

In partnership with the international organization Just for Laughs, which has given rise to some of today’s most successful comedic acts via its iconic festivals, tours and television series, “Bring the Funny” features the best of the best stand-ups, sketch troupes and comedic variety acts.
From solo comics to sketch troupes to musicians, magicians, podcasters, puppeteers, YouTubers and more – anyone who can make audiences laugh will have the chance to receive the career-changing $250,000 prize package and see their name in lights in the “Bring the Funny” showcase.
The show is pretty much done now on TV, but for those of you (like me) who missed it, you can check it out here on Hulu. I’m a few episodes in now, and I can’t WAIT to see who wins!
