I was born and raised in Brooklyn, so there’s something magical about stepping into a space that captures the essence of greatness–especially when it’s to celebrate an artist from NYC! And that’s exactly what Lexus and the Book of HOV exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library helped me do. Not only was this exhibit a tribute to Jay-Z’s extraordinary career and influence, it was more than a celebration of music—it was a love letter to Brooklyn, creativity, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
I had the chance to experience this exhibit firsthand, thanks to Lexus, who not only brought their own touch of history to the display but also made sure I arrived in style. And boy am I ever so grateful for the opportunity.

The Book of HOV: A Cultural Masterpiece
The exhibit brought Jay-Z’s story to life with immersive displays that highlighted his journey from Marcy Projects to global superstardom. From rare memorabilia to iconic album art, it was a treasure trove for fans and an inspiration for dreamers.
The Brooklyn Public Library transformed its space to match Jay-Z’s bold vision, attracting over 255,000 visitors—a record-breaking number for the library. And while I don’t typically spend much time in museums or history exhibits, this one had me hooked. The fusion of music and art spoke to my soul, a reminder that creativity truly knows no bounds.
Lexus Meets Hip-Hop History

One of the standout pieces at the exhibit was Jay-Z’s 1993 Lexus GS 300, a car that holds a special place in hip-hop history. Featured in the “Dead Presidents” music video and immortalized in the lyrics of “Can I Live” and “Empire State of Mind,” this car symbolizes not only Jay-Z’s early career but also his undeniable influence on culture. The car wasn’t just on display—it was a bridge between the past and present, reminding visitors of the power of dreams and hard work.
The Lexus VIP Experience
Lexus didn’t just make history part of the exhibit—they made sure I could experience it in the most seamless way possible. Yup, a Black Uber ride to and from the exhibit!
Turning my trip into a journey of comfort and style. And as a born-and-raised New Yorker, who likes to explore new cities, I often forget how exciting it is to explore my city! So this experience reminded me that greatness is all around us, waiting to be discovered, even right here … at home.

A Lasting Impression
But can I be real for a second? The Book of HOV exhibit wasn’t just an event—it was an escape.
It was a moment to reflect on the heights that can be reached from humble beginnings! And a chance to celebrate the culture that shapes us. And thanks to Lexus, the journey to this unforgettable experience was just as incredible as the destination itself.
Looking at these photos, and remembering how amazing this experience was last year, really helps me remember why I even started this site to begin with! Exploring cities, and learning about our culture through the arts, fuels me like no other! And I can’t wait to see what other cultural attractions I get to explore next year!
If you missed this exhibit, let it serve as a reminder to us both, to embrace cultural attractions like this when they come around. They’re not just celebrations of the past—they’re inspirations for the future.
