Listen, when I signed up for an advanced critic screening of Wicked, I had no idea it was gonna be my kind of escape! I wasn’t even planning on writing a Wicked movie review! I was just taking my kid to see a musical before it releases! Of course big, bold, magical stories that transport me to a whole new world are my jam!
But I had never read the books, or seen the Broadway musical, so I didn’t really know what to expect. And honestly, after Barbie and Mean Girls … I wasn’t sure if Wicked would live up to the hype.
Boy am I glad I was wrong! Wicked did NOT disappoint. The vibrant world-building, catchy songs, and complex characters combine to create a fantastic escape perfect for a night out at the movies.
