Listen, if you’re reading this review, you’re probably currently considering buying tickets to see the “Disney on Ice: Mickey’s Search Party” show, wondering if it’s good for adults, and if you should borrow someone else’s kids to justify your purchase.
But what if I told you … you don’t need to borrow anyone’s kids to go? What if I told you — you, the adult — can grab tickets with your adult friends (or go solo), and still have an amazing time? Without kids! I know, I know, it sounds almost too good to be true.
But trust me, I’m a single mom … and a night without the kids is magical.
And usually needed to keep one sane!
Plus, believe it or not, sometimes, going without the kids is actually more fun than going with them! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate doing things with my teen. Quite the opposite, actually. And yes, she still loves hanging out with her mom. But sometimes, not having to worry about what everyone else needs, and just focusing on what YOU need, can make an experience more enjoyable.
So if you’ve been wondering, “Is Disney on Ice good for adults?” — keep reading, I got you.

FAQs: Everything You Need to Know Before Grabbing Disney on Ice Tickets

Do I need to bring kids to enjoy Disney on Ice? Absolutely not! While most of the audience will be families, there were plenty of adults there for the nostalgia. (Me included.)
Is Disney on Ice only for little kids? Nope! Adults who grew up with Disney movies will have just as much fun (maybe more). And my teen still loves attending, so the show is for all ages.
Is it worth it for adults who don’t have kids? If you love Disney, live performances, or just need a break from adulting — 100%. As long as you don’t mind kids being excited (and possibly loud) all around you.
How long is the show? About two hours long with a 15 min intermission. Short enough to enjoy, but not so long that you’re checking your watch, wondering when they’re gonna wrap this baby up.
How much do tickets cost? Many tickets fall in the $30-$50 range, depending on venue, what city you’re in, and how close you’d like to be to the ice.
Are there drinks for adults? Yes! Most arenas sell wine, beer, and cocktails — just expect Disney pricing.
What should I wear? Comfortable layers! It’s chilly near the ice, but you’ll want to look cute for photos, too. I’ll include some essentials towards the end of this post so you can grab something online if you don’t already have a thousand Disney sweaters lying at home.
Is Disney on Ice good for a date night? Actually, yes. As long as your partner loves Disney too.
Should I bring earplugs? It wasn’t needed when I went, but bringing earplugs isn’t a bad idea if you’re sensitive to noise. The kids may be screaming for their favorite characters or singing super loudly.
My “Disney on Ice: Mickey’s Search Party” Experience

I got invited by Disney to see Mickey’s Search Party, and while I didn’t go with ONLY adults. I brought my teen along for the show. Our crew was mostly 18+.
Though I have to admit, I was a little worried this version of Disney on Ice would be a bit too childish for us. The beginning acts felt very kid-friendly. But eventually, things got more interesting, as our favorite characters came out, and the songs that we loved started playing. Plus, some of these performers are insanely talented — like, flips and lifts while dressed as Disney characters, talented!
Shockingly, the Coco segment completely stole the show for me (and the teen). Coco isn’t even in my top 10 Disney movies, but this was definitely the best Disney on Ice performance I’ve ever seen. And this was our third Disney on Ice show! The Coco segment is a vibrantly colorful performance with skeletons atop sway poles dancing, and we loved every minute of it.
Honestly, they could totally do a Coco on Ice show, and I’d pay just to watch a full version of this.
I will say, things can get pretty costly, since almost everything we bought (a stitch cup that lights up, popcorn, cotton candy) was $20 each! And I don’t remember everything being THIS expensive. But it was totally worth it, and grabbing snacks and drinks during the show is part of the fun for us!
So, yes! I’d do it all again!
Escapism Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5 stars – Mickey’s Search Party is a great escape for adults. It’s nostalgic, joyful, and just the right kind of chaos to make you forget your adult responsibilities. Even if for just a while.
Live Show Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5 stars – The live performance is fun, but it did feel a little light on excitement at the beginning.
Tips to Survive Disney on Ice as an Adult

- Embrace the chaos. There may be kids screaming when their favorite song comes on, or their favorite characters get on stage. Lean in — it’s part of the fun.
- Bring friends or a date. It’s totally cool to go alone, but some experiences are better shared.
- Dress in layers. It may be colder near the ice, so having an extra sweater to wear, versus wearing your coat the entire show, may help keep you warm.
- Get there early. Snack lines can get long, with everyone’s entire family waiting in line! So if you can beat the crowds, you’ll have a better time.
- Participate. Sing along, cheer, clap, and be a good sport when they ask for audience participation.
- Manage expectations. This isn’t Cirque du Soleil, or a Broadway show, baby. Yes, the masks look a little wonky, but so what!
