Plus Size Baddies: Here’s A Quick Review Of The “Guardians Cosmic Rewind” Ride At WDW

If you’re reading this Guardians Cosmic Rewind Disney plus-size ride review, it’s probably because you’re plus-size (like me) and just thinking about what you can (and probably can’t) get on when you visit Disney is anxiety-inducing! It’s cool … I get it! I freak out internally every time I think about trying a new ride at Disney. It’s scary thinking about waiting in line just to be turned away because you can’t fit.

So the question of the day is: “Is Guardians Cosmic Rewind plus-size friendly?

Currently, as I write this, I’m about 280 lbs, 5’5′ tall, and a size 1X/2X (depending on the cut). I carry my weight all over — so in my stomach, arms, thighs, and boobs. (Don’t even bother asking me for my bra size because whew chile. I’m still making peace with that.)

After visiting Walt Disney World in 2022 for the first time ever with my daughter, I’ve been dying to get back! But every time I have to get on a new Disney ride I cringe because … well, I’m plus-size! And I have anxiety! So just the thought of not being able to fit makes me anxious. However, I’ve found that doing a bit of research helps me figure out what I can and can’t ride — which helps relax my nerves, a bit. So I’m hoping I can help a few others as well.

Here’s A Quick Review Of Guardians Cosmic Rewind For Plus Size Riders

First, here’s a photo of me, in case you need a visual to compare to …

(I tend to like photos of others because the numbers alone don’t do much for me. And if you need a few more you can sift through my Instagram.)

This was taken in March 2023, at the SXSW Film Festival in Texas. Probably not a great reference pic since my shirt hides my stomach well here. But there are more unflattering photos on Instagram.

Is Guardians Cosmic Rewind Plus Size Friendly?

So I only rode Guardians Cosmic Rewind once during my Girl’s Trip to Orlando for my birthday, but I can’t wait to ride it again! So I mean, that should tell you enough right?

I can’t say if everyone will be able to fit but I can say that I fit with no problem at all! And I was totally expecting there to be some sort of problem. (Like I had at Universal Orlando.) But nope — no problemos at all.

But here’s what bothered me:

  • Nothing … absolutely nothing!

I know right! Shocker! Shout out to Disney for making this one so easy to ride.

What you need to know before riding Cosmic Rewind if you’re plus size:

All you really need to know is that there’s a lap bar that locks in at different places to accommodate different sizes and I love it! I expected to have to push down far to get the bar to lock in, (like some rides) but as soon as I pushed it in as close to me as I could — it locked. Someone comes around and asks you to push up on the bar just to make sure it’s locked. And then that’s it you’re good to go!

It’s really simple, and not much to worry about! So hopefully this makes you less anxious.

Disney does mention that the seating and restraints of this ride may prohibit guests of certain body shapes and sizes from riding, however, the seat did feel spacious! And the lap bar didn’t feel tight, or restrictive in any way. (Not like Flight of Passage.)

Plus, I never felt like I was going to fall out of my seat at any moment. Despite all the movement!

Do I recommend riding Cosmic Rewind even if you’re plus size?

Absolutely! I had an absolute blast riding this, even though I’d consider myself a scaredy cat when it comes to thrill rides. It’s a super fast, super dark ride, with tons of twists, but it’s super fun.

If you scare easily, or thrill rides aren’t really your thing, you can read my scaredy cat review for Guardians Cosmic Rewind here for more info.
