Like seriously! I ain’t got no god damn clue what the HSM movies are about, but the new High School Musical Disney Plus series is seriously the cutest!
I think I kinda you knowwww, you knowww, you know! Lol
If you’ve watched the first episode of the new High School Musical Disney Plus series, then you know why I’m singing that line above and what it means. Lol
If not, you need to watch it!
I wasn’t sure what this show would be like but it has surpassed my expectations. And when I heard the series was shot like The Office, I knew I was gonna like it.
But I couldn’t just jump the gun and say I liked it after watching ONE episode. (Which I saw weeks ago!) So I waited until I was a few episodes in.
Now I can officially say I dig this and I’ll probably watch it with my daughter. (Even though it doesn’t show up via the kids accounts, and I’m not sure if my 7 year old needs to watch High Schoolers kiss ever so often.)
But since that’s the only thing that’s been alarming (and when I was her age kids were reading Zane books) we should be fine!
Which brings up my next point. This series was made for us, the millennials that loved HSM growing up. (Or those who didn’t get to watch the movies, like moi.)
Which is great!
So far I’ve loved everything about this series, including the fact that I was SHOCKED that Ricky could sing. Lol (I had to remind myself this was a Disney production and ALL their main characters can act, sing, and dance! Lol)
Now I can’t wait to see what happens next and how this ends. (Spoiler Alert – Disney Plus has already confirmed a Season 2!)
About The High School Musical Series
The 10-episode scripted series, set at the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.”
With meta references and some docu-style elements, it’s a modern take on the “classic” from 13 years ago. Show-mances blossom; friendships are tested, while new ones are made; rivalries flare; songs are sung; and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” follows East High juniors Ricky and Nini, who just returned from summer camp with a new-found voice, confidence and ambitious boyfriend, E.J. With the help of his best friend, Ricky launches a plan to win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend Nini by auditioning to stage opposite her in the school’s first-ever theatrical production of “High School Musical.” But will it work?
