Oh Snap! Disneyland Is Opening Two New “Princess And The Frog” Themed Gift Shops

Y’all! I can’t believe it! We’re “almost there”. The new “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” ride is coming along well at Disney World. And NOW — Disneyland has announced two new “Princess and the Frog” themed shops coming to Critter Country.

Butter my biscuits and call me “Sugah”, ’cause they can take all of my money, as per usual.

Listen, I’m looking forward to getting a little retail therapy in these new themed shops. So as soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to let you all in on the ‘sugar honey iced’ tea baby.

Are you excited to see what Disneyland has in store? *ahem* Yes, that pun was intended.

Here’s What You Need To Know About Disneyland’s New Princess And The Frog Themed Shops

First of all — Disneyland and Disney World are always announcing new things to take our money (like their Princess and the Frog inspired restaurant). And I’m here for it.

What Disney-loving adult wouldn’t be?

However, you’re probably wondering …

  • What are the shops going to carry?
  • What are they going to be named?
  • Where are they going to be located?

Well, hold on to your beignets because BAY-BAY, I got you.

Side Note: Does anyone have a good recipe for Tiana’s beignets?

Alright let’s get back to the tea.

Princess and the Frog Themed Gift Shop #1 — Ray’s Berets

Ray’s Berets (currently The Briar Patch) will be the best place for guests to shop for headwear, apparel, accessories, toys and more with firefly Raymond and his firefly kin in the coziest cabin in Critter Country at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Calif. This reimagined merchandise location inspired by “The Princess and the Frog” will further immerse guests into Princess Tiana’s story, along with the opening of the attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, later this year. So listen, they are giving our adorable friend Ray, a shop called “Ray’s Berets”. (Which is currently The Briar Patch.) However, the “Ray’s Berets” shop will have headwear, apparel, accessories, toys and more to help you feel like you are “going down the bayou”.

And I’m secretly hoping that the store will have their lights set up to look like “lighting bugs” (which is what we call them in Virginia) glowing everywhere. Hopefully, we’ll also see Ray and his sweet Evangeline reunited? Who doesn’t love “Black love“?

Don’t worry our favorite gator, Louis, is getting his own shop at Disneyland too.

Princess and the Frog Themed Gift Shop #2 — Louis’ Critter Club

Louis’ Critter Club (currently the left-hand side of Pooh Corner) will be the place to go for apparel, accessories, home decor and more featuring some of your favorite critters and Princess Tiana in Critter Country at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Calif. This reimagined merchandise location inspired by “The Princess and the Frog” will further immerse guests into Princess Tiana’s story, along with the opening of the attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, later this year. (Artist Concept/Disneyland Resort)

The second “Princes and the Frog” theme gift shop will be called “Louis’ Critter Club” and will pay special tribute to our favorite alligator. And let me tell you, if I don’t hear Louis singing to me while spending all my coins, I’m going to be one upset Momma.

The new shop will offer apparel, accessories, home décor, and more featuring Princess Tiana.

Now, I really hope both shops don’t have the same items in them and have some variety. One of my pet peeves is going to several themed shops to see they all have the same items.

If they really want to make this special, Disneyland is going to have to mix it up.

Now, here’s my “ick” about the new Princess and the Frog shops …

They’ll have to shut down Critter Country in order to make the magic happen.

The temporary closing will begin on May 1, 2024.

And while I totally understand why they have to close it. Sometimes I really wish we could see what goes into the making of these areas. We have been patiently waiting for Princess Tiana and her crew to have a place in the Disney parks and we deserve to see it happening!

Look how long it took us to get our first Black princess. It took them 70+ years to bless us with her presence. SEVENTY PLUS YEARS!

Disneyland and Disney World better go above and beyond for this one!

But does this “ick” change my mind on this whole new world they are creating? Absolutely TF NOT. I’m a Black Disney Mom! I am going to do all the Disney things regardless! Point, blank, period. And, its freaking “Princess and the Frog,” she deserves it all! So I’m excited to see what Disneyland and Disney World has in store to showcase our Princess Tiana.

Now, about that beignet recipe! Do you have one? Because I need that!
