Disney Plus’s ‘Black Beauty’ Trailer Is Emotional And Almost Brought Me To Tears (But Maybe It’s Just Me)

Disney Plus shared the new trailer and poster for its new movie, “Black Beauty” today, which will premiere on the streaming service Fri, Nov 27. And I gotta be honest, the trailer was a bit more emotional than I expected it to be.

But as the girl who grew up loving the Black Beauty story, (it’s one of the few classics I actually loved and read, despite being an avid reader, just like The Secret Garden) I guess it makes sense that this is emotional for me? I mean I grew up LOVING horses and wanting one of my own. I can’t remember if Black Beauty was the reason for that love or not, because I barely remember yesterday let alone when I was in elementary school!

Yet to this day, movies and tv shows about horses still make me happy.

(Especially Free Rein on Netflix, which centers around a Black girl who finds a love for horses when her family spends a Summer in London with her grandfather.)

However, even though I don’t fully remember the story from the book, I do remember how much I loved it. So I can’t wait to see Black Beauty on Disney Plus!

Oh and the horse WILL talk!

So I’m extremely excited about that. (Way more than I should be.) But it also lets me know that this won’t just be an emotional adventure, but it’ll probably also be the silly, family movie we’re used to from Disney!

This modern day reimagining of Anna Sewell’s timeless classic, follows Black Beauty (Kate Winslet), a wild horse born free in the American West. Rounded up and taken away from her family, Beauty is brought to Birtwick Stables where she meets a spirited teenage girl, Jo Green (Mackenzie Foy).

Beauty and Jo forge an unbreakable bond that carries Beauty through the different chapters, challenges, and adventures of her life.

“Black Beauty” is directed by Ashley Avis (“Adolescence”) who also wrote the screenplay. JB Pictures’ Jeremy Bolt (“Polar,” “Monster Hunter”) and Robert Kulzer (“Polar”) from Constantin Film are producers and Martin Moszkowicz, Edward Winters and Jon Brown are executive producers.

Dylan Tarason is a co-producer, and Moonlighting Films president Genevieve Hofmeyr (“Mad Max: Fury Road”) is the South African producer. “Black Beauty” is produced by Constantin Film and JB Pictures.
