Listen, when I got invited to check out the Beat The Bomb escape room experience here in Brooklyn I knew it was gonna be my kind of escape! (So, OF COURSE, I was excited to write a Beat The Bomb review!)

If it’s one thing I love, it’s hanging with my friends! So any social activity or event where I can bring the squad with me is my jam. But … the idea of having to “beat the bomb” before getting blasted definitely made me excited. And scared. Don’t judge me!! I’m a Virgo, perfectionist, who has anxiety baby!

If you say we need to beat the bomb before it explodes, then WE NEED TO BEAT THIS BOMB BEFORE IT EXPLODES!! The older I get, the more I realize how competitive I REALLY am, and BOY do I hate to lose.

Sometimes though, the Instagram reels and website can make an activity look way more fun than it really is. So I wasn’t sure what to expect from Beat The Bomb. However, it totally exceeded my expectations. This escape room is seriously a LOT of fun. So if you think you and your friends would enjoy this experience, here’s my …

Full Beat The Bomb Review

Activity: Beat The Bomb
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Type of Event: Escape Room
Ticket Cost: General Mission Experience: $44.95 per player; VIP Package: $69.95 per player

Why Beat The Bomb is the Perfect Escape

  • Escapism Appeal: Beat The Bomb is the ultimate mix of strategy, adrenaline, and chaos, perfect for a break from the office, or just everyday life. You’re not just dodging lasers, but you’re also trying to figure out brain-busting puzzles, with limited time to do so. So it’s definitely designed to keep you on your toes. The anticipation builds with each game room, and yes — each game is harder than the last. But it’s a fun time, and impossible not to laugh with your friends, especially if you fail! It’s immersive, thrilling, and guaranteed to take your mind off anything else.
  • Group Dynamic: Best suited for 4-6 players, this game demands impeccable teamwork and flawless communication skills. Whether you’re going with a group of friends, coworkers, or even family, (kids 8+ can also join in on the fun) you’ll be relying on each other to make it through without getting blasted. It’s great for birthdays, group hangouts, or even a double date.

Beat The Bomb Escapism Rating

🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈 (5/5 Balloons for a Thrilling Social Escape)

  • Rating Explanation: From the moment you suit up in your white hazmat gear, you’re transported into an exciting adventure. (Like figuring out what to name your crew, and how to lock your locker? Whew! Mind-blowing stuff!) The five game rooms are perfectly designed to test your communication and coordination while keeping things fun and high-energy. It’s a social escape like no other, blending competitive fun with pure unpredictability. And the VIP tickets include a drink & t-shirt.

Beat The Bomb Activity Rating

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars for Overall Fun)

  • Rating Explanation: Despite the mishaps (paint on shoes + in mouths, and even broken nails), this experience is a wild ride from start to finish. The combination of mental and physical challenges makes it an exciting activity for any group, and the paint blast finale is hilariously messy.

What Beat The Bomb Helps You Forget

You’ll completely forget about your daily grind as soon as you step into the first game room.

Beat The Bomb is a full-body workout wrapped in an escape challenge, making it perfect for leaving behind work stress, personal drama, or even just that overflowing inbox.

Tips to Survive Beat The Bomb

  • Wear something you don’t mind getting dirty! The hazmat suits don’t fully protect you from the paint, so don’t come dressed in your best.
  • Hydrate beforehand! It gets hot in those suits, and you’ll be doing a LOT of running.
  • Stretch! The games are more physical than you’d expect.
  • Don’t forget to communicate! Might seem obvious, but as you’re trying to figure out what’s next, you sort of forget that you should be communicating with those around you.
  • Listen to the instructions! It’s not a suggestion when they say put your mask on!

Key Moments from My Beat The Bomb Experience

  • Locker Issues: For some reason, none of us could figure out how to lock our items safely in the lockers. But the Beat The Bomb staff members were very helpful, so it was just another reason for us to laugh.
  • Hazmat Suits: My suit fit a little too snug for my liking, and unfortunately because I’m so used to everything not being plus-sized friendly, I just assumed that’s all they had. But the website does say they have suits in kid sizes all the way up to a 4X, so if yours doesn’t fit right, make sure to ask.
  • Paint Everywhere: Literally! Someone’s shoes got paint on them, even though they gave us shoe covers. And my friend got paint in their mouth. Do NOT ask me how!
  • Broken Nails, Broken Dreams: Baby, we had this idea that we would all run together, to beat one of the rooms, and wow did that go nowhere! All I got was a broken nail, and a face full of wall! Yup, I ran into the wall. Please, do as I say, and not as I do.
  • The Bomb Bar, Blows: The Brooklyn location has a Bomb Bar but it only serves beer, wine, hard seltzers, and snacks. (That you’ll have to pay extra for!) We all got White Claws because we had the drink tickets, but baby … I am not a White Claw drinker! I don’t care what you saw me do at Sundance 2023. Plus, there are better post-game options around Brooklyn.

Final Thoughts

Would I do this again? Absolutely! Beat The Bomb is an insane combo of brain and brawn. It’s not just a game; it’s a full-blown experience and the teamwork, laughs, and chaos made it all worth it!

They’ve got a slime mission for Halloween, that I’d love to try! Plus, they have a foam mission year-round, and I’d like to try that out as well. Keep in mind, that you’ll need to bring your thinking hats, and PLEASE only bring your real friends! This is NOT the time to test out new relationships baby. Leave those associates at home! If you’re not used to communicating and coordinating with them … they’ll have to wait for the next social outing.

Unless of course, you don’t mind losing … and getting BLASTED … like we did.
