Listen … when Warner Bros Pictures released the first look of their new “Barbie” (2023) movie, I wasn’t the least bit excited. And I was very vocal about it! So thank the good lord for these new “Barbie” character posters!
I mean the first few photos of Barbie and Ken looked like they belonged in Andy’s playroom. And that’s not a compliment Toy Story fans! I was seriously worried! Plus, finding out that Greta Gerwig is directing this — didn’t help. She’s directed one of the most boring films I’ve ever seen on screen, better known as, “Little Women”, so yeah I freaked out.
But these new “Barbie” movie character posters are giving me life! Especially the ones below featuring the main stars and some of my favorite actors and actresses of all time!
We still don’t have a full darn description of this film just yet, but I’m not sure if that matters anymore. After seeing these character posters — I’m sold!
Here Are My Favorite “Barbie” Movie Character Posters
The ‘Barbie’ Character Posters
Margot Robbie as Barbie
After a killer performance in “Suicide Squad” and “Birds of Prey” … I’m always down to watch a film starring Margot Robbie. She’s literally the “perfect Barbie”.
Issa Rae as ‘President’ Barbie
I’m not a fan of Issa’s work, outside of her Netflix film “The Lovebirds” and her great performance in “The Photograph” … so this one can go either way. And from what I’ve seen in a few other photos, I’m not sure if I’m going to like this Barbie. But we’ll see.
Alexandra Shipp as a ‘Celebrated Author’ Barbie
My favorite drummer, from “Drumline: A New Beat”, is now a celebrated author and I can’t wait to see her on screen again.
Ritu Arya as a Barbie ‘who has a Pulitzer’
We all know and love Ritu Arya from “The Umbrella Academy”, and I just know we’re all going to love her once more as a Barbie!
Dua Lipa as a ‘Mermaid’ Barbie
I feel like I rarely see Dua Lipa on screen, because she usually does most of her work behind the scenes as a singer or a voice actor, so I’m excited to see how she does as a Mermaid Barbie.
Nicola Coughlan as a ‘Diplomat’ Barbie
Nicola’s our favorite “it” girl from Netflix’s “Bridgerton” series … so of course she’s playing a diplomat Barbie!
The ‘Ken’ Character Posters
Simu Liu as Ken
I’m not lying here when I say Simu is simply perfect as a Ken! This is great casting here people! Like … wow, did they hit this one on the nail!
Kingsley Ben-Adir as Ken
And Kingsley as a Ken isn’t too bad either. He’s definitely got the range for this, and I’m so damn grateful we get to finally see him on the big screen again! I feel like I haven’t seen him on screen since he starred in Regina King’s directorial debut “One Night In Miami” in 2020! Which is freaking insane because he’s so darn good.
Ncuti Gatwa as Ken
Look … if you haven’t seen Ncuti Gatwa in “Sex Education” on Netflix yet … you’re missing out baby! He’s the best thing since slice bread! So having him as a Ken in this “Barbie” movie tells me all that I need to know! I can’t wait to see him on screen again. He’s such a pleasure to watch.
Ryan Gosling as Ken
And of course — our plain ol’ boring Ken doll. Can you tell he’s my least favorite Ken?
The ‘Human’ Character Posters
America Ferrera as a Human
I’ll always be a America Ferrera stan — and have been since her “Ugly Betty” days, so I can’t wait to see her in this.
Ariana Greenblatt as a Human
Our favorite little Nina from “In The Heights” is back to wow us again, as a human. I’m actually a bit sad she’s not Barbie’s little sister. But I guess …
Will Ferrell as a Human
And I’m not sure why we’re calling my main man Will “mother”, but I’m damn sure he’ll be a whole lot of fun to watch on screen!
Now here’s what you’ve all been waiting for …
